Water

The main streams in the valleys have the danger of Giardia and require filtering. A few people have gotten girardia. It's a flu like intentinal flareup and requires medication to rid yourself of it. It can debilitate a hiker.

Bring water filters and use them for all drinking water.

Some visitors drink the water from the side streams.

If some in your party are carrying filters, just carry 1 liter of water on the main trails.

The ridges for the most part do not have water on them. Particularly on hot days, carry at last 2 litres.

Refill frequently, even if not empty.
