I use a cloth duffel bag.  You can google search for "Odyssey Duffle Bag" to get the idea. Mine is about 30 inches [75 cm] long and about 15 inches [37 cm]  in diameter. Your duffel shouldn't be too big. Otherwise the outfitter may have trouble loading it.

It's a good idea to use heavy plastic bags in which to pack your stuff inside the duffel. That ensures against the contents getting wet if the duffel does. The outfitters do put tarps over the duffels, however.
