The first crossing of the Wildhay River is the most difficult. If you're hiking, it helps to have stream shoes or sandals and even wet suit sox ... the river is typically 'screaming' cold and going barefoot slows you down for even more screaming. In high water, after a day or two of heavy rains, this crossing often becomes impassible (waist high) on foot. On a horse assisted trip in high water conditions, your outfitter will typically ferry hikers across. |
