For about the first 10 km, the road in from Rock Lake is forested. Vehicles are not allowed on this road and but for the traditional trapper, no motorized vehicles are allowed in the park. Under wet conditions this road becomes slippery Alberta mud. and in some places puddles completely fill the road from side to side. The road is mostly flat, following the slight elevation gain of the Wildhay River as if flows from the Eagles Nest region to the Rock Lake Area. It does not flow into Rock Lake, but instead joins the Rock Lake outflow downsteam. At that point, the Wildhay becomes much deeper – a class 2 river for canoes and kayaks. |
