1 Full Length Upright View: Go here to see current specs on the Tripper. From Clipper Canoe pages: Versatile, fast, stable, and comfortable. The Tripper was first introduced in the spring of 1983. In its first year of production, the Tripper became Clipper’s most popular model and has remained the number one canoe of choice for paddlers in the Northwest. Versatility is perhaps the Tripper’s most popular feature. It is at home on large lakes, open ocean, or up to grade III white water. The Tripper holds the world record for the longest continual canoe trip from Calgary, AB to Belen, Brazil (read the article here). The Tripper is the only canoe to be paddled across Canada in one season during the C2C Expedition from the Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick to Vancouver, BC, in 1995 (read the article here). The Tripper’s ample capacity will carry a family with kids or enough gear for an extended tandem wilderness trip. Its quick speed makes it a first choice for many races in the Northwest. Moderate rocker allows for quick maneuverability, yet a minimum of correction strokes are required to keep it on course. Paddle it with bent shaft paddles for maximum speed and efficiency. Go here to see further detailed specs and information from the Clipper Canoe pages: http://www.clippercanoes.com/tripper/ So far as I remember this layup is: standard with Kevlar® reinforcing, a gelcoat protective layer, anodized aluminum trim, plastic bucket seats, sliding bow seat, adjustable stern footbrace, and snaps on the trim for a spray cover (there is no cover). Thus, this is not a lightweight, kevlar or carbon fibre layout. It's a very strong construction reinforced with kevlar and extra thick gelcoat. Weight = about 70#. That's why it has held up so well. No dents, holes, patches or deep scratches. The bottom is still relatively smooth. I'm selling this boat because it has become too heavy for my wife to help me to carry on portages and lift on to our high van rack (we're in our 70s). We could do it but have bought a super light boat. I remember paying between $2500-2800 for this boat. The sale does not include anything else, e.g., paddles, life jackets, spray cover, racks. We live between Acton and Milton. If you'd like to see the canoe, email me to arrange a time. I prefer a cash transaction. Ray Rasmussen email: ray@raysweb.net |
