Interior Portion of the Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde

There has been restoration work done on the Cliff Palace site. Many of the dwellings and granaries in the Southwest were broken apart in the search for artifacts which were sold to museums and private collectors. It is only recently that we have come to appreciate that the structures themselves are an unparalled cultural and tourism heritage.
