Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde

This shot of the Cliff Palace shows what perhaps was the apex of the Anasazi culture of the time. Mesa Verde consists of many alcoves like that shown in this image, each with a complex of dwellings, kivas, and granaries. In addition, there are habitation and storage sites in the treed area on the mesa top.
