At the entrance to the Needles District of Canyonlands, one comes across this complex display of petroglyphs ... aptly named Newspaper Rock. The rock art covers many styles ranging from the early publo dwellers to nomadic natives who placed their marks in the 17th and 18th centuries and finally to early explorers, cowboys, and, of course, modern day vandals.
