Plants on a Decaying Log, Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada
Within the Algonquin park boundaries, there are hundreds of lakes and probably as much water as land surface. Some trees fall into lakes and and begin their decay process. Over time, as the log decomposes with the help of microrganisms and insects from within, plants take root and find nourishment on the surface. It's a hapy marriage of simple and old. |
