Northern Ontario is composed of Shield and Limestone country in which one finds numerous lakes and mixed hardwood forests. The Winter arrives in December when the small plants and shrubs have disappeared, the leaves have fallen, and, if lucky, the powder snow is deep and lasts until April.
I enjoy hiking and canoeing in this country in the fall, and snowshoeing and skiing in Winter.
