North American aboriginals
created images that are commonly called 'rock art' and technically called petroglyphs
[stone carvings] or pictographs [painting on stone]. Writing-on-Stone is known
for it's many petroglyph sites. Unfortunately, the park underwent years of abuse
in the form of grafitti scratched next to and often right on these historical
works of art.
