About Ray Rasmussen's Photoshop Compositions Website

Photoshop and other softwares are being used by a number of people to make 'artsy' images. Maybe some of them are worthy of the label 'art', maybe not. That's left to you, the viewer. At the least they're fun to make and I enjoy seeing the work of those who are quite skilled at making them.

The technique is to employ softwares like Photoshop or Lightroom and use methods such as multiple image layers, blending techniques, special brushes and other means to make composite "artsy" images.

My journey into making Photoshop compositions started by seeing the work of my friend Jeanett Flynn and then looking at work on the Internet by a number of Photoshop artists..

While I knew that the learning curve would be great, and I'm still just a bit into that learning curve, I decided to give it a try and have been at it since early 2016.

These are some of the Internet places where I found useful tutorials and resources. In some cases, the tutorials and resources are free; in others there's a fee. (I don't receive a fee for mentioning these websites).

Photoshop Artists put up their own blogs and websites. An excellent place for viewing compositions by numerous practitioners is the Photoshop Artistry Magazine:

Sebastian Michaels' Quill and Camera Blog offers examples and commentary by Michaels and other artists along with links to a variety of artists websites.

It helps, but isn't necessary to start with skills in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Lightroom or other image processing softwares. Each of the above Internet sites have tutorials on the softwares they emphasize in their tutorials.
