The boy's first fishing trip started in Alameda, a small town in California. He left with his father and uncle in the early morning for a small cabin in the mountains, nearly 4 hours from home. The cabin was made from scrap lumber by the boy's father who couldn't afford better. It was decorated with pine cones by his mother who cooked meals on the pot belly stove in front of the cabin. The boy slept on the big porch that was surrounded with tall trees and ant lions. |
