Digital Image of Light on Boats, Half Moon Bay

chasing away darkness
early morning light
wakens the dreamers

It's 4:00 a.m. I’m fumbling around in the dark trying to find my clothes without waking the whole household. I had mentioned to a friend that I’ve always wanted to go deep sea fishing, and he said he hadn’t gone for years. His suggestion: “Let's go!” So, we had arranged to go fishing and he was picking me up in 1 hour for the drive to Half Moon Bay.
Getting there I was surprised to see the charter boat company already bustling with those that would be fishing with us. By the time everyone had gotten their licenses and equipment night was just beginning to fade from the sky. It was overcast, and I wasn’t sure if we were going to get rain, or if it was just fog.The sailboats in the bay looked like they were all still sleeping, the water was dark and calm. I wasn’t sure how a picture would turn out, but decided to try taking one. Just as I was focusing, a ray of sunlight came through the clouds – the only place it seemed to shine was on the boats in the front and it only lasted a couple of seconds, disappearing again behind the clouds. It was like someone quickly turned a flashlight on and off.
