Small Redrock Basin This small basin is typical of the plant ecology of the region. The small depression fills with sand, accumulates cryptobiotic soil which holds the soil in place, and over time accumulates a variety of desert plants, including, in this case, a small pinion pine and several yucca plants. There may be as many as 20 plant species sharing this small bed of soil.
