Whale Formation

Few of the sandstone monuments have formal names. This one is called the whale for obvious reasons and serves as a landmark when hiking the maze of canyonlands on either side of it. Occasional rains fill the depressions in the sandstone and harbor a large variety of creatures, including small brine shrimp.
